ABSTRACT

Stroke is a disease with a high disability rate, and often leads to limb dysfunction, especially upper limb motor dysfunction, which significantly affects the patients’ abilities and quality of life. With patients' increasing demand for functional recovery, various therapeutic techniques of rehabilitation medicine have been rapidly developed. As an important active central intervention technology, motor imagery training can be initiated by the patient's brain and activate the sensorimotor network to accelerate the repair of limb functions. The development of preventive medicine has promoted the continuous evolution of the concept of rehabilitation. The strategies of full cycle functional protection and disability prevention have been improved and developed in the clinical and scientific research practice of upper limb rehabilitation after stroke. The motor imagery training can activate the upper limb motor neural network in the early stage of stroke to prevent functional loss; In the recovery period, it can accelerate the neural function remodeling and reduce the upper limb disability; In the later stage after stroke, it can improve the performance of upper limb function in daily life, thus helping patients return to family life and society. This article reviews the research progress in recent years in China and abroad in the application of motor imagery training for the full cycle function protection and disability prevention of stroke.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of speech imagery therapy combined with traditional dysarthria training on dysarthria in children with cerebral palsy. MethodsFrom August to December, 2022, 21 children with cerebral palsy combined with dysarthria in Wuhu Fifth People's Hospital were randomly divided into three groups A, B and C. Group A was given traditional dysarthria training for 30 minutes everytime, group B was given implantable speech imagery combined with traditional dysarthria training for 40 minutes everytime, and group C was given additional speech imagery combined with traditional dysarthria training for 40 minutes everytime, five days a week, for three weeks. Articulation and Phonology Assessment Scale, Mouth Sensory-Motor Assessment Scale, and mandibular distance, tongue distance and vowel space area (VSA) were evaluated before and after treatment. ResultsThere was no significant difference in all the indexes among three groups before treatment (F < 1.247, P > 0.05). After treatment, the scores of phonological function and sensory-motor assessment scale increased (|t| > 2.575, P < 0.05), and the mandibular distance and VSA increased in groups A and B (|t| > 2.632, P < 0.05). The d-value of phonological function before and after treatment was more in groups B and C than in group A (P < 0.05), and no difference was found in the d-value of other indexes before and after treatment among three groups (P > 0.05). ConclusionBoth speech imagery therapies are effective in improving diction clarity, oral range of motion, and motion control ability in children with cerebral palsy, and are more effective in improving articulatory clarity than traditional speech-language training.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo explore the effects of graded motor imagery (GMI) combined with repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) on upper limb function and activities of daily living of stroke patients. MethodsFrom June, 2022 to February, 2023, 45 stroke patients from Xuzhou Rehabilitation Hospital and Xuzhou Central Hospital were recruited and divided into control group (n = 15), GMI group (n = 15) and combined group (n = 15) randomly. All the groups received conventional rehabilitation, in addition, GMI group received GMI and the combined group received GMI and rTMS, for four weeks. They were assessed with Fugl-Meyer Assessment-Upper Extremities (FMA-UE), Action Research Arm Test (ARAT), modified Barthel Index (MBI) and Hong Kong version of Functional Test for the Hemiplegic Upper Extremity (FTHUE-HK) before and after treatment. ResultsThe scores of FMA-UE, ARAT and MBI, and grades of FTHUE-HK improved in all the groups after treatment (|t| > 9.681, P < 0.001), and all these indexes were the best in the combined group (F > 13.241, P < 0.001). ConclusionGMI combined with rTMS can further improve the motor function of upper limbs and activities of daily living of stroke patients.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo observe the effect of motor imagery therapy on hand function and motor imagery ability of stroke patients. MethodsFrom March, 2018 to March, 2020, 41 stroke patients in Beijing Bo'ai Hospital were selected and randomly divided into control group (n = 20) and observation group (n = 21). Both groups received conventional rehabilitation training, and the observation group received motor imagery therapy in addition, for four weeks. Before and after training, the scores of Fugl-Meyer Assessment-Hand (FMA-H) and Kinesthetic and Visual Imagery Questionnaire-10 (KVIQ-10), and the accuracy of mental rotation task were compared between two groups. ResultsOne patient in the observation group dropped down. Before training, there was no significant difference in the scores of FMA-H and KVIQ, and the accuracy of mental rotation task between two groups (P > 0.05). After training, all the indexes improved in both groups (t > 6.611, P < 0.001), and the scores of FMA-H (t = 3.742, P < 0.001) and KVIQ (t = 4.122, P < 0.001), and the accuracy of mental rotation task (t = 2.075, P < 0.05) were higher in the observation group than in the control group. ConclusionMotor imagery therapy could facilliate the recovery of hand dysfunction and improve the motor imagery ability of stroke patients.

ABSTRACT

The brain-computer interface (BCI) based on motor imagery electroencephalography (MI-EEG) enables direct information interaction between the human brain and external devices. In this paper, a multi-scale EEG feature extraction convolutional neural network model based on time series data enhancement is proposed for decoding MI-EEG signals. First, an EEG signals augmentation method was proposed that could increase the information content of training samples without changing the length of the time series, while retaining its original features completely. Then, multiple holistic and detailed features of the EEG data were adaptively extracted by multi-scale convolution module, and the features were fused and filtered by parallel residual module and channel attention. Finally, classification results were output by a fully connected network. The application experimental results on the BCI Competition IV 2a and 2b datasets showed that the proposed model achieved an average classification accuracy of 91.87% and 87.85% for the motor imagery task, respectively, which had high accuracy and strong robustness compared with existing baseline models. The proposed model does not require complex signals pre-processing operations and has the advantage of multi-scale feature extraction, which has high practical application value.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT Objectives: to evaluate the effect of guided imagery relaxation through virtual reality on anxiety in women with cervical cancer undergoing radiochemotherapy. Methods: randomized, non-blinded, single-center clinical trial conducted at a cancer reference hospital. 52 women participated, with randomized allocation of 24 in the control group and 28 in the experimental group (12 sessions of guided imagery relaxation through virtual reality, applied three times a week). The outcome was evaluated using the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory and statistical analysis was performed using the Generalized Linear Mixed Model. Results: n the experimental group, women presented significant anxiety traits (p=0.010) before the intervention. Between the 4th and 12th week of follow-up, there was a reduction in anxiety levels, without statistical significance. Conclusions: guided imagery relaxation through virtual reality provided evidence of anxiety reduction in women with cervical cancer undergoing radiochemotherapy and may contribute to clinical practice. RESUMEN Objetivos: evaluar el efecto de la relajación con imagen guiada por realidad virtual en la ansiedad en mujeres con cáncer cervical sometidas a radioterapia. Métodos: ensayo clínico aleatorizado, no enmascarado, unicéntrico, realizado en un hospital de referencia en cáncer. Participaron 52 mujeres con asignación aleatoria, 24 en el grupo control y 28 en el experimental (12 sesiones de relajación por imagen guiada por realidad virtual, aplicadas 3 veces por semana). El resultado fue evaluado por el Inventario de Ansiedad Rasgo-Estado y el análisis estadístico fue realizado con el Generalized Linear Mixed Model. Resultados: en el grupo experimental, las mujeres presentaban rasgos de ansiedad significativos (p=0,010) antes de la intervención. Entre la 4ª y 12ª semana de seguimiento, hubo reducción en el estado de ansiedad, sin significancia estadística. Conclusiones: la técnica de relajación por imagen guiada por realidad virtual proporcionó evidencias de reducción de la ansiedad en mujeres con cáncer cervical en tratamiento con radioterapia y puede contribuir en la práctica clínica. ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo observe the effect of brain-computer interface (BCI) training based on motor imagery on hand function in hemiplegic patients with subacute stroke. MethodsFrom June, 2020 to December, 2021, 40 patients with hemiplegia in subacute stroke from Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University were divided into control group (n = 20) and experimental group (n = 20) using random number table. Both groups accepted medication and routine comprehensive rehabilitation, while the control group accepted hand rehabilitation robot training, and the experimental group accepted the robot training using motor imagery-based BCI, for four weeks. They were assessed with Fugl-Meyer Assessment-Upper Extremities (FMA-UE), modified Barthel Index, modified Ashworth scale, and measured integrated electromyogram of the superficial finger flexors, finger extensors and short thumb extensors of the affected forearm during maximum isometric voluntary contraction with surface electromyography. ResultsTwo patients in the control group and one in the experimental group dropped off. All the indexes improved in both groups after treatment (t > 2.322, Z > 2.631, P < 0.05), and they were better in the experimental group than in the control group (t > 2.227, Z > 2.078, P < 0.05), except the FMA-UE score of wrist. ConclusionMotor imagery-based BCI training is more effective on hand function and activities of daily living in hemiplegic patients with subacute stroke.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo explore the effect of motor imagery (MI) on knee function after unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA). MethodsFrom January to September, 2022, 32 patients underwent UKA for the first time in Xuanwu Hospital were randomly divided into control group (n = 16) and experimental group (n = 16). All the patients accepted routine rehabilitation, and the experimental group accepted MI in addition, until four weeks after discharge. They were assessed with Oxford Knee Score (OKS), Visual Analogue Scale for pain (VAS), range of motion (ROM) of knee, and Timed Up and Go Test (TUGT) before and after treatment. ResultsAll the indexes improved after treatment (|t| > 2.517, P < 0.05), except ROM in the control group; and they improved more in the experimental group than in the control group (F > 7.999, P < 0.01), except the VAS score. ConclusionMI can further improve the knee function after UKA, but do less for pain.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Guided imagery (GI) is a mind–body intervention, in which individuals generate mental images of pleasant objects or eventsin their minds. These mental images produce positivity and alter the perception of headaches and other pain disorders. A review of literature suggests that GI is an effective psychological treatment for tension‑type headache (TTH) and state‑trait anxiety. Hence, the present study aimedto assess the efficacy of GI on TTH associated with state‑trait anxiety and to compare its efficacy with treatment as usual (TAU). Materials and Methods: Forty treatment‑naïve patients diagnosed with TTH were selected from the psychiatry outpatient department through purposivesampling method. The Henry Ford Hospital Headache Disability Inventory and the State‑Trait Anxiety Inventory for Adults were administeredon all the patients for baseline data. Experimental group (n = 20) were given eight sessions of GI along with TAU for 2 months, whereas waitlistgroup (n = 20) were given only TAU. Results: ASignificant positive association was obtained between emotional and functional disabilityof headache and state‑trait anxiety at baseline. Postassessment findings demonstrated a significant reduction in severity and frequency of TTH, emotional and functional disability, and state‑trait anxiety in the experimental group receiving GI as compared to the waitlist group.Conclusion: Patients living with TTH more commonly suffer from state‑trait anxiety. Those patients who were given GI along with TAU for 2 months improved on severity and frequency of TTH, emotional and functional disability of TTH, and state‑trait anxiety more effectively than those patients receiving only TAU. Consequently, it can be said that GI is an effective treatment for TTH and state‑trait anxiety as compared to TA

Resumen Un sobreviviente de cáncer padece continuamente manifestaciones autonómicas debidas a la enfermedad, su tratamiento oncológico, y el estrés psicológico con que se enfrenta continuamente. Una de las medidas psicofisiológicas utilizada para la valoración del estrés es la disminución de la temperatura periférica. En contraparte, los procedimientos psicológicos de relajación para el manejo de estrés buscan incrementar la temperatura. Sin embargo, se desconoce si esta respuesta es igual en todas pacientes. El objetivo de esta investigación fue examinar los cambios de temperatura durante un protocolo de estrés psicosocial y relajación en pacientes sobrevivientes de cáncer de mama. Adicionalmente, se evaluó el autorreporte de dolor y su interferencia con el funcionamiento psicosocial. Los resultados mostraron variaciones de temperatura periférica en las pacientes; sin embargo, no todas las pacientes presentaron el mismo patrón de temperatura, encontrando 3 subgrupos de pacientes, cuyas trayectorias lineales de temperatura permitieron generar un pronóstico afectivo para el manejo de estrés. Por autorreporte, no se encontraron diferencias psicosociales entre los subgrupos, aunque sí se encontró una asociación inversa entre la interferencia del sueño y la temperatura periférica. Se concluye que la temperatura periférica permite distinguir a las pacientes que se les dificulta el manejo del estrés psicosocial de aquellas que se benefician de los procedimientos psicológicos de relajación.


Abstract A cancer survivor continually suffers from autonomic manifestations due to the disease, their cancer treatment, and the psychological stress they continually face. One of the psychophysiological measures used to assess stress is the decrease in peripheral temperature. In contrast, psychological relaxation procedures for stress management seek to increase temperature. However, it is unknown if this response is the same in all patients. This research examined breast cancer survivors' temperature changes during psychosocial stress and relaxation protocol. Additionally, self-reported pain and its interference with psychosocial functioning were evaluated. The results showed peripheral temperature variations in the patients; however, not all patients presented with the same temperature pattern, finding three subgroups of patients whose linear temperature trajectories allowed generating an affective prognosis for stress management. By self-report, no psychosocial differences were found between the subgroups, although an inverse association between sleep interference and peripheral temperature was found. It is concluded that peripheral temperature distinguishes patients who find it challenging to manage psychosocial stress from those who benefit from psychological relaxation procedures.

ABSTRACT

Guided imagery technique is a cognitive behavioural technique in which under the guided instructions a client is guided in imagining a relaxing scene or series of experiences. It is a gentle powerful technique more often used to promote relaxation and to provide therapeutic bene?ts. Adolescents are very often susceptible to emotional distress due to exam anxiety .The aim of the study was to assess the effectiveness of guided imagery technique on examination anxiety among adolescent students. A quasi-experimental research which includes a pre-test, guided imagery technique training and a post-test was conducted. A convenient sampling was used to select the 60 adolescent students and their knowledge was assessed by multiple-choice questionnaire and standardized test anxiety questionnaire developed by Nist and Diehl. The results revealed that the mean post-test anxiety level score (14.97) was lesser than the mean pre-test score (21.2). The obtained “t” value was 5.74 which was signi?cant at p<0.05 level .The study concluded that guided imagery technique is an effective intervention for reducing examination anxiety among adolescent students.

O texto propõe-se a refletir sobre a pandemia de covid-19 à luz do problema da vulnerabilidade. Discute-se a pertinência dos diagnósticos sobre a distribuição desigual da vulnerabilidade e as necropolíticas, enquanto chaves compreensivas de nossa realidade histórica. Tensiona-se o argumento de que a epidemia se constituiu enquanto marco histórico de um progresso moral civilizatório. Por fim, insiste-se na vulnerabilidade e no valor renovado da proteção e do amparo aos corpos, enquanto problemas cujo sentido ético depende de suas conversões em políticas e em imaginários de igualdade.


The text proposes a reflection on the covid-19 pandemic in the light of the problem of vulnerability. The relevance of diagnoses on the unequal distribution of vulnerability and necropolitics is discussed, as comprehensive keys to our historical reality. The argument that the epidemic was constituted as a historical landmark of a civilizing moral progress is offered. Finally, the text insists on the vulnerability and renewed value of protecting and supporting bodies, as problems whose ethical meaning depends on their conversion into policies and imageries of equality.


El texto propone reflexionar sobre la pandemia del covid-19 a la luz del problema de la vulnerabilidad. Se discute la relevancia de los diagnósticos sobre la distribución desigual de la vulnerabilidad y la necropolítica, como claves comprensivas de nuestra realidad histórica. Ofertase el argumento de que la epidemia se constituyó como un hito histórico de un progreso moral civilizatorio. Finalmente, insistese en la vulnerabilidad y el valor renovado de los cuerpos protectores y de apoyo, como problemas cuyo significado ético pasa por su conversión en políticas e imaginarios de igualdad.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To observe any effect of combining motor imagery therapy (MIT) with repeated transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) for improving upper limb motor functioning after a stroke.Methods:Ninety stroke survivors were randomly divided into a control group, an MIT group and a combination group, each of 30. All received conventional rehabilitation therapy, while the MIT group additionally received MIT and the combination group received the MIT along with 1Hz rTMS applied over the M1 region of the contralateral cortex. Before and after 4 weeks of treatment, everyone′s upper limb functioning was quantified using the Fugl-Meyer assessment scale (FMA) and the Hong Kong version of the hemiplegia upper limb function test (FTHUE-HK). Motor evoked potentials (MEPs), cortical latency (CL) and central motor conduction time (CMCT) were also recorded.Results:After the treatment the average FMA and FTHUE-HK scores of all three groups had improved significantly. The average CL and CMCT were significantly shortened. Compared with the control group, the average upper limb FMA score and FTHUE-HK scores of the treatment group were significantly higher. The combination group showed a significant improvement in its average MEP cortical latency and CMCT values.Conclusions:MIT therapy alone can improve the upper limb motor functioning of stroke survivors, but it is more effective in combination with rTMS.

ABSTRACT

Aiming at the problem of low recognition accuracy of motor imagery electroencephalogram signal due to individual differences of subjects, an individual adaptive feature representation method of motor imagery electroencephalogram signal is proposed in this paper. Firstly, based on the individual differences and signal characteristics in different frequency bands, an adaptive channel selection method based on expansive relevant features with label F (ReliefF) was proposed. By extracting five time-frequency domain observation features of each frequency band signal, ReliefF algorithm was employed to evaluate the effectiveness of the frequency band signal in each channel, and then the corresponding signal channel was selected for each frequency band. Secondly, a feature representation method of common space pattern (CSP) based on fast correlation-based filter (FCBF) was proposed (CSP-FCBF). The features of electroencephalogram signal were extracted by CSP, and the best feature sets were obtained by using FCBF to optimize the features, so as to realize the effective state representation of motor imagery electroencephalogram signal. Finally, support vector machine (SVM) was adopted as a classifier to realize identification. Experimental results show that the proposed method in this research can effectively represent the states of motor imagery electroencephalogram signal, with an average identification accuracy of (83.0±5.5)% for four types of states, which is 6.6% higher than the traditional CSP feature representation method. The research results obtained in the feature representation of motor imagery electroencephalogram signal lay the foundation for the realization of adaptive electroencephalogram signal decoding and its application.

ABSTRACT

The effective classification of multi-task motor imagery electroencephalogram (EEG) is helpful to achieve accurate multi-dimensional human-computer interaction, and the high frequency domain specificity between subjects can improve the classification accuracy and robustness. Therefore, this paper proposed a multi-task EEG signal classification method based on adaptive time-frequency common spatial pattern (CSP) combined with convolutional neural network (CNN). The characteristics of subjects' personalized rhythm were extracted by adaptive spectrum awareness, and the spatial characteristics were calculated by using the one-versus-rest CSP, and then the composite time-domain characteristics were characterized to construct the spatial-temporal frequency multi-level fusion features. Finally, the CNN was used to perform high-precision and high-robust four-task classification. The algorithm in this paper was verified by the self-test dataset containing 10 subjects (33 ± 3 years old, inexperienced) and the dataset of the 4th 2018 Brain-Computer Interface Competition (BCI competition Ⅳ-2a). The average accuracy of the proposed algorithm for the four-task classification reached 93.96% and 84.04%, respectively. Compared with other advanced algorithms, the average classification accuracy of the proposed algorithm was significantly improved, and the accuracy range error between subjects was significantly reduced in the public dataset. The results show that the proposed algorithm has good performance in multi-task classification, and can effectively improve the classification accuracy and robustness.

ABSTRACT

Speech expression is an important high-level cognitive behavior of human beings. The realization of this behavior is closely related to human brain activity. Both true speech expression and speech imagination can activate part of the same brain area. Therefore, speech imagery becomes a new paradigm of brain-computer interaction. Brain-computer interface (BCI) based on speech imagery has the advantages of spontaneous generation, no training, and friendliness to subjects, so it has attracted the attention of many scholars. However, this interactive technology is not mature in the design of experimental paradigms and the choice of imagination materials, and there are many issues that need to be discussed urgently. Therefore, in response to these problems, this article first expounds the neural mechanism of speech imagery. Then, by reviewing the previous BCI research of speech imagery, the mainstream methods and core technologies of experimental paradigm, imagination materials, data processing and so on are systematically analyzed. Finally, the key problems and main challenges that restrict the development of this type of BCI are discussed. And the future development and application perspective of the speech imaginary BCI system are prospected.

ABSTRACT

Motor imagery electroencephalogram (EEG) signals are non-stationary time series with a low signal-to-noise ratio. Therefore, the single-channel EEG analysis method is difficult to effectively describe the interaction characteristics between multi-channel signals. This paper proposed a deep learning network model based on the multi-channel attention mechanism. First, we performed time-frequency sparse decomposition on the pre-processed data, which enhanced the difference of time-frequency characteristics of EEG signals. Then we used the attention module to map the data in time and space so that the model could make full use of the data characteristics of different channels of EEG signals. Finally, the improved time-convolution network (TCN) was used for feature fusion and classification. The BCI competition IV-2a data set was used to verify the proposed algorithm. The experimental results showed that the proposed algorithm could effectively improve the classification accuracy of motor imagination EEG signals, which achieved an average accuracy of 83.03% for 9 subjects. Compared with the existing methods, the classification accuracy of EEG signals was improved. With the enhanced difference features between different motor imagery EEG data, the proposed method is important for the study of improving classifier performance.

ABSTRACT

The aim of this study was to translate, adapt and validate the Sport Imagery Questionnaire for Children to Brazilian Portuguese. For this purpose, analyzes of reproducibility, internal consistency and confirmatory factor analysis were conducted. The final sample consisted of 521 athletes from 14 sports and ages 14 and 19 (M = 16.31, SD = 1.18). High indices of internal consistency (? = 0.870), reproducibility (0.824) and content validity were verified. In the confirmatory factor analysis, it was observed the appropriate global indexes of adjustment to the five-factor instrument model (RMSEA = 0.060; CFI = 0.90; TLI = 0.88; SRMR = 0.047). The translated instrument has adequate psychometric indicators to evaluate sport imagery, presents a reproducible factor structure and is a reliable test to measure the frequency of imagery use in Brazilian adolescent athletes.


O objetivo deste estudo foi traduzir, adaptar e validar o Sport Imagery Questionnaire for Children para o português brasileiro. Para tanto, foram realizadas análises de reprodutibilidade, consistência interna e análise fatorial confirmatória. A amostra final foi composta de 521 atletas praticantes de 14 modalidades esportivas e com idades entre 14 e 19 anos (M = 16,31, DP = 1,18). Foram verificados altos índices de consistência interna (? = 0,870), reprodutibilidade (0,824) e validade de conteúdo. Na análise fatorial confirmatória, foram observados os índices globais adequados de ajuste ao modelo do instrumento de cinco fatores (RMSEA = 0,060; CFI = 0,90; TLI = 0,88; SRMR = 0,047). O instrumento traduzido possui indicadores psicométricos adequados para avaliar a imagética no esporte, apresenta uma estrutura fatorial reproduzível e é um teste confiável para medir a frequência de uso de imagética em atletas adolescentes brasileiros.

ABSTRACT The municipality of Paracambi (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) reports sporadic cases of American cutaneous leishmaniasis (ACL). Previous studies detected Nyssomyia intermedia (Diptera: Psychodidae) as the main vector in the region, but its spatial distribution and the presence of other vector species have not been evaluated. This study aims at filling this knowledge gap, by studying the ecology of sand flies, their spatiotemporal distribution, and correlation with land use/cover. Two campaigns of monthly sand fly collections using light traps and manual captures were conducted in 1992-1994 and 2001-2003. Females were dissected to detect natural Leishmania infections. The spatial distribution of sand flies was assessed using kernel density maps. Correlations with land use/cover were evaluated by extracting satellite imagery data around the capture points. A total of 17,232 sand flies from 13 species were captured. Medically important species included Ny. intermedia, Migonemyia migonei, Pintomyia fischeri and Ny. whitmani. No Leishmania-infected females were detected. Highest densities were detected in the peri-urban areas Cascata and Sabugo, and in rural areas São José and Mutirão. Ny. intermedia had statistically significant correlations with pasture and agricultural areas. Present results strengthened that Ny. intermedia and Mg. migonei are the main local ACL vectors. Correlations with land use evidence the association between ACL and anthropic environmental change.

ABSTRACT Objective: To analyze the effects of the technique of virtual reality guided imagery in the vital signs of hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation patients. Method: Quasi-experimental study with 35 participants who received an intervention using virtual reality guided imagery with progressive muscle relaxation, applied three times a week for four weeks in a referral hospital for transplants in the south of Brazil. Data collected included: temperature, arterial pressure, respiratory rate, heart rate, pain, and oxygen saturation, before and after each intervention. The comparisons were analyzed using Wilcoxon's test. Results: There was a clinical significance between the mean measurements before and after for respiratory rate (p=0.00) in all stages, and for the variables Heart rate, Temperature, and Oxygen saturation from the 1st to the 12th measurements (p=0.05). Conclusion: The intervention was low cost, easy to apply, and showed positive effects, presenting itself as an option for patient-focused care.


RESUMEN Objetivo: Analizar efectos de técnica de imagen guiada por realidad virtual en los signos vitales de trasplantados de células madre hematopoyéticas. Método: Estudio cuasi experimental con 35 participantes que recibieron intervención de imagen guiada por realidad virtual con relajación muscular progresivo, aplicada tres veces por semana durante cuatro semanas, en hospital de referencia en trasplante del Sur de Brasil. Los datos recolectados fueron: temperatura, presión arterial, respiración, frecuencia cardíaca, dolor y saturación de oxígeno, antes y después de cada intervención. Las comparaciones analizadas por test de Wilcoxon. Resultados: Hubo significación clínica entre las medianas de los contrastes de antes y después para Frecuencia respiratoria (p=0,00) en todas etapas; y en las variables Frecuencia cardíaca, Temperatura y Saturación de oxígeno, entre la 1ª hasta 12ª evaluación (p=0,05). Conclusión: Los efectos de la intervención mostrados favorables, bajo costo y fácil realización, siendo una opción de acción de cuidado centrado en el paciente.
